Hungary up close – cities, landscapes and culinary delights
Day 1: Arrival in Székesfehérvár – City of Kings
You travel to Székesfehérvár, the historic “City of Kings.” Depending on the arrival time, you can take a first stroll through the pretty old town with its squares, streets and sacred buildings. Afterwards, you check into your rooms in the ****Hotel Castrum. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 2:Excursion to the Puszta & Kecskemét
After breakfast, you drive to Kecskemét and discover the old town with its churches, domes and Art Nouveau facades during a tour. Afterwards, you will visit the Zwack Pálinka Manufactory with a tasting of various schnapps and visit the family museum.
Then it’s on to the Puszta to Lajosmizse. You will be greeted with schnapps and pogácsa, take a carriage ride across the grounds and experience a horse show. A rural lunch with wine, water and musical entertainment rounds off the stay. Return to Székesfehérvár, dinner and overnight stay in the ****Hotel Castrum.
Day 3: Budapest – Castle District & magnificent buildings
Today, Budapest is on the program. First, explore the Buda Castle District with the Fisherman’s Bastion and Matthias Church with an open-air bus and enjoy the view over the Danube.
Afterwards, a schnapps tasting awaits you in the Rézangyal Schnapshaus and a salami tasting in the Great Market Hall, from where you can stroll along the longest pedestrian zone in the city. In the afternoon, get to know the city better, including the imposing Parliament and the magnificent Opera House (interior viewing optional). Dinner and overnight stay in the ****Hotel Castrum.
4. Day: Return journey
After breakfast, you will start your journey back to Pongau and Pinzgau – with many impressions from Hungary’s royal cities, the Puszta and the lively Budapest.
